Our first stop will be Yanahuara Square, where we’ll visit the Yanahuara viewpoint, known for its beautiful arches made of sillar and engraved with verses from poems written by renowned Arequipeño authors. From this spot, we’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the city’s guardian volcanoes.
We will then continue to the Añashuayco Quarry, where we’ll learn about the sillar extraction process — the stone used in most of the buildings surrounding Arequipa’s Main Square. We’ll also discover how the master stonemasons carry out the carving, shaping, and large-scale sculpting of this volcanic stone.
Next, we’ll visit the Culebrillas Ravine, located about 30 minutes from Añashuayco. This quarry is no longer in use, but we’ll walk for about 20 minutes through a narrow canyon shaped by water erosion. At the end of the path, we’ll find petroglyphs created over a thousand years ago by the Wari culture, which we’ll have the chance to admire and photograph.
Finally, we’ll return to Arequipa to conclude the tour, and we’ll drop you off at the tourist terminal.

Health and Recommendations:
The main problem hikers may encounter is the altitude.
We recommend drinking coca leaf infusions (mate de coca) upon arrival in Cusco.
Drink plenty of water during the hike. Eat lightly, without excessive fat or heavy meals that hinder digestion.
During the hike, go slowly on the first day and avoid unnecessary exertion. If you smoke, try to reduce your intake as much as possible.
Don’t hesitate to stop and rest if you feel short of breath.
Let your guide know if you feel unwell; they are trained and can help you or take the necessary measures.
Although the water is drinkable throughout most of Peru, its chemical and bacteriological composition varies depending on the area.
To avoid problems, we recommend drinking bottled water.
